Mechanism of Action

SilverStream’s unique formulation, as detailed in the following table, integrates carefully selected ingredients, each with a specific mechanism of action. Together, they create a synergistic effect that enhances wound cleansing, promotes healing, and prevents infection:

Ag NO3

Preservative & Anti-microbial agent.  

A low concentration of silver ions (0.01%) in silver nitrate. Ionic silver kills on contact and inhibits the growth of bacteria, yeast, and fungi.

Menthol

Penetration enhancer, Growth promoter, Pain reliever, Odor fighter.

  • Enhances ionic silver antimicrobial activities and fights wound odor.
  • Promotes granulation tissue growth by vasodilatation.
  • Anti-inflammatory properties, stimulate the antioxidant defense system, and promote epithelialization.
  • The specialized synergistic combination of silver ions and menthol reduces the concentration level of the silver ions – to well below the cytotoxic threshold
Tween 20

Surfactant and Detergent

  • Enhances solution penetration into the biofilm.

Glycerol

How It Works

SilverStream is a patented wound management solution, that combines a low concentration of silver ions, menthol, and glycerol plus a surfactant, dissolved in a hypertonic solution.

SilverStream specialized synergistic combination of silver ions and menthol reduces the concentration level of the silver ions – to well below the cytotoxic threshold.

The high concentration of the hygroscopic glycerol provides hydrogel effects.

Easy to Apply

Step 1:
Open the cap, insert syringe with needle into the bottle and draw up the quantity of SilverStream solution as advised by the Medical Practitioner.

Step 2:
Spray the SilverStream solution on the wound. Let the wound be exposed to the sprayed solution for 5-10 minutes. Do not rinse. If needed, use SilverStream-soaked gauze to gently clean the wound. DO NOT INJECT (The needle should not touch the wound).

Step 3:
Wet a sterile cotton gauze with SilverStream solution.
Place the wet gauze on the wound.

Step 4:
Dress the wound with a dry secondary non-antimicrobial occlusive dressing, such as a pad with an adhesive edge or a bandage, as directed by the Medical Practitioner.
